Recording and Mixing

The main studio room is a 17th Century barn which can comfortably accommodate up to 30 musicians.

In addition, we have 2 purpose-built booths adjoining the main room and 2 further large booths in separate buildings.

The larger East Booth is ideal for separating drums and can comfortably accommodate a 4 piece section.

The West Booth has a tighter, dryer acoustic perfect for vocals, harp, bass, guitars etc. The external booths are available just in case we need five separate recording spaces, capable of hosting respectively up to 4 and 2 musicians.

The East and West booths have line of sight with the main barn/conductor and additionally we have a bespoke video communication system, which allows all musicians and anyone dialling in to sessions remotely to see every room (including the control room and all 4 booths) in whatever layout they choose. Everyone can also monitor bar counts and/or the ProTools session.

In addition to a traditional cue circuit from the mixing desk, we have a system of personal mixers, so musicians can create their own cue mix.

The studio is designed for the ultimate flexibility – from the intimate small room sounds of the booths to the more expansive ambience of the barn. The isolation between all the rooms is total, allowing for complete separation in the mix.

We have a large collection of double and single sided headphones, music stands and chairs that don’t squeak.

After the recording, both Hester and Stefano can edit your project, to make sure that you are happy with your performances.

The floating control room is equipped with a stunning 7.1.4 ATC Atmos system, Present Day Production MUM-10s stereo set, a 48-channel SSL Duality Fuse and some of the most famous outboard gear you can find in a studio. The control room is designed for complete flexibility at the mixing stage. We can mix fully ‘in-the-box’ with all the plug-ins you can think of or fully analogue using the SSL and outboard gear.

We can deliver files in any format from Mono all the way to Dolby Atmos.

If you can’t attend the recording or the mixing session, we can stream multichannel high quality audio directly to you in real time with Audiomovers, and multiple video feeds through Zoom, so that even if not physically here, you are 100% part and in control of your own project.
